Haridwar: Nithari Case Convict Surendra Koli Found Dead at Tea Stall

Haridwar: Surendra Koli, an accused in the infamous Nithari killings case, was found dead at his tea stall in Haridwar on Friday, September 18, police said.

Koli had worked as a domestic help at the Noida residence of businessman Moninder Singh Pandher. He was arrested in 2006 after the discovery of human skeletal remains in and around the premises of Pandher's bungalow in Sector 31, Noida.

The Nithari case came to light after skulls, bones and other skeletal remains were recovered from the area near the bungalow and adjoining drains. The findings were linked to the disappearance and deaths of several children and women, triggering widespread public outrage across the country.

Koli faced multiple cases in connection with the Nithari killings and was sentenced to death in several matters over the years. He was subsequently acquitted in a number of the cases.

Pandher, who was also named as a co-accused, spent several years in jail before being acquitted. He was released from prison on October 20, 2023.

Koli was around 30 years old when he was arrested in 2006. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death in Haridwar.
