BLO Assaulted at Vikas Nagar Ward Office, Case Registered Against Local Man

<p>A 30-year-old Booth Level Officer was subjected to abuse at a ward office in Vikas Nagar under the IS Sadan police station limits on Friday evening, with police registering a case against the accused.</p>
<p>The complainant, Macharla Anitha, is an ASHA worker attached to the Madannapet Urban Primary Health Centre and has been serving as a Booth Level Officer for the past three months. She alleged that a local man, identified as Hasan, would frequently visit the ward office, occupy the premises and cause inconvenience to staff members.</p>
<p>Anitha further alleged that Hasan harassed her by repeatedly calling her and questioning why she was absent from duty even when she was on authorised leave.</p>
<p>On the evening of September 11, Hasan allegedly slapped her and kicked her in the stomach, causing swelling to the injured area.</p>
<p>Acting on her complaint, police registered a case under Section 121(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. An investigation is currently under way.</p>
