BRS Leader Niranjan Reddy Slams Congress Over Kalvakurthi Irrigation Neglect

Former Bharat Rashtra Samithi minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy on Friday trained his guns on the Congress government in Telangana, calling it incompetent and charging that it had failed to utilise abundant water available at the Srisailam project to provide irrigation to farmers.

Niranjan Reddy was speaking after inspecting the Mahatma Gandhi Kalvakurthi Lift Irrigation Scheme Stage 3 pump house at Gouridevipalli in Revalli mandal of Wanaparthy district. He was accompanied by BRS leaders Srinivas Goud, Laxma Reddy, Marri Janardhan Reddy and Harshavardhan Reddy.

The former minister alleged that the Telangana government was being negligent and allowing Andhra Pradesh to transfer water from the project, causing serious hardship to farmers in Mahabubnagar district. He demanded that the Kalvakurthi Lift Irrigation pumps be operated 24 hours a day to ensure adequate water supply to farmers.

Niranjan Reddy also took a direct dig at Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, claiming the CM was solely focused on the Future City project and had little thought to spare for the farming communities of the state.
