Hyderabad: Cyberabad Police recovered 1,218 lost and stolen mobile phones worth approximately Rs 2.43 crore during the 11th phase of their CEIR-based mobile recovery drive.
According to police officials, the recovered phones were traced by three Central Crime Station (CCS) units operating under the Cyberabad Commissionerate and subsequently returned to their respective owners.
CCS Kukatpally traced 410 mobile phones, while CCS Serilingampally recovered 407 devices. Another 401 phones were traced by CCS Quthbullapur.
The recovered devices were handed over to their owners during the latest phase of the drive. Several beneficiaries expressed relief and happiness after getting their lost or stolen phones back.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner M Ramesh said technology was being used extensively to trace missing mobile devices. He urged people who lose their phones to promptly register complaints and submit the necessary details through the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal to help police track the devices.
The CEIR system enables authorities to identify and track mobile devices using their unique equipment identification numbers, helping prevent the misuse of lost or stolen phones.
The Commissioner also urged citizens to remain alert against cyber-related frauds, including fake job offers and betting applications.
Police further advised people to take care of their valuables in crowded areas and avoid publicly sharing travel plans on social media, as such information could potentially be misused by criminals.
Cyberabad Police said citizens should report missing mobile phones without delay and provide accurate device details to improve the chances of recovery.
