The decomposed remains of an unidentified woman were found in bushes near Sreenidhi University at Yamnampet, falling under the Pocharam IT Corridor police station limits, on Friday.
University staff first noticed the remains and immediately alerted the police. Officers reached the spot, conducted a thorough inspection, and a clues team collected forensic evidence from the scene.
Based on the condition of the remains, police believe the woman, estimated to be between 20 and 35 years of age, may have passed away approximately a week ago. Marks were reportedly found around her neck, raising questions about the cause of passing, though investigators have not yet confirmed any conclusion.
The circumstances surrounding the case are being treated as suspicious. Police are examining multiple angles, including the possibility of a sexual misconduct case followed by a fatal crime and disposal of the remains at the isolated location. Officials, however, stress that no angle has been established yet, and they are awaiting the postmortem and forensic reports before drawing any conclusions.
Efforts are underway to identify the deceased by cross-referencing missing-person reports and conducting inquiries in nearby areas. The investigation is expected to intensify once forensic evidence and autopsy findings become available.
