Gaza Strip: At least eight Palestinians, including a child, were killed in Israeli strikes targeting areas in southern and northern Gaza, according to hospital authorities.
Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis reported receiving the bodies of five people killed in a strike in the southern city.
In a separate attack in Gaza City, three people, including a boy, were killed, while a woman sustained serious injuries, according to Shifa Hospital, which received the casualties.
The Israeli military said it had targeted several militants in Khan Younis and a Hamas militant in northern Gaza. The military's statements did not provide further details about the casualties reported by the hospitals.
Violence Continues Despite Ceasefire
The latest strikes come despite a ceasefire that took effect in October 2025 and largely halted major fighting between Israel and Hamas. However, Israeli military strikes have continued in Gaza.
According to Gaza's Health Ministry, more than 1,570 Palestinians have been killed since the truce began, taking the reported overall death toll from the war to more than 74,500.
The ministry operates under the Hamas-run administration and does not distinguish between civilian and militant casualties in its overall figures.
Background to the Gaza War
The conflict began on October 7, 2023, when Hamas-led militants launched an attack on southern Israel, killing around 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and abducting 251 others.
Israel subsequently launched a military campaign in Gaza aimed at dismantling Hamas and securing the release of hostages.
Israel maintains that its strikes target militant infrastructure and fighters, while accusing Hamas of operating among civilian populations and using civilians as human shields.
The continuing attacks and reported casualties have raised concerns over the durability of the ceasefire and the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
