A family of four from Tanuku town lost their lives or were hospitalised after jumping into the Godavari River from a bridge at Chinchinada in Elamanchili, Andhra Pradesh, in the early hours of Saturday.
The incident took place at approximately 6.15 am on Saturday, a police official said. By Sunday, September 6, search operations had traced three sets of remains from the river, while one woman was pulled out alive by local fishermen.
The rescued woman was identified as Namburi Padmini, 42, and was shifted to the Government Hospital in Razole for treatment.
Police found two motorcycles at the scene. Using the registration numbers, they identified the family as residents of Tanuku town. The three who passed away were subsequently identified as Padmini's husband, Namburi Srinivas, 45, and their two minor children.
