Five Family Members Found Deceased at Srisailam Lodge, Police Suspect Personal Crisis

Five members of a family from Sri Sathya Sai district were found deceased in a room at Vadde Satram lodge in Srisailam on Tuesday, with police suspecting that health problems and severe financial difficulties may have driven them to end their lives.

According to police, Pallapu Sudhakar (36), a resident of Battalapalli village in Sri Sathya Sai district, arrived in Srisailam on July 28 along with his three sisters and his 15-year-old nephew. The five had travelled together in Sudhakar's autorickshaw and checked into a room at Vadde Satram lodge.

On Tuesday, lodge staff noticed that the room door had remained shut for an unusually long time and detected a foul smell coming from inside. When they opened the window to investigate, they found all five persons found deceased. Staff immediately alerted the police.

"Five members of a family were found in a room at Vadde Satram here on Tuesday, and preliminary inquiries suggest that health problems and financial hardships may have driven them to take the extreme step," a police official told PTI.

During the investigation, police learnt that Sudhakar, his two elder sisters, and a younger sibling, along with the nephew, were all reportedly suffering from health problems. Sudhakar's two elder sisters had also separated from their husbands, and the family's overall financial condition was described as poor. Sudhakar had been the sole provider for the group, supporting all of them through his work as an autorickshaw driver.

Police believe the combination of persistent health issues and mounting financial pressure may have left the family deeply disillusioned. A full investigation into the incident is currently underway.
