GHMC to Distribute One Lakh Clay Idols Ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is gearing up for Ganesh Chaturthi with a plan to distribute one lakh clay idols across the city, with the rollout beginning in the second week of September.

The idols will be made available to residents, welfare associations and organisers of Ganesh mandaps. Distribution will be handled by GHMC staff at the Circle level, ensuring the reach extends across the corporation's jurisdiction.

This year, the GHMC has procured idols made entirely from natural clay and biodegradable materials, with no artificial additives used in the process, in keeping with the push for an eco-friendly celebration.

As part of broader festival arrangements covering the celebration and the nimajjanam processions, GHMC will establish a dedicated coordination mechanism to promptly address issues related to roads, barricading, cranes, electricity, water supply, sanitation and emergency services.
