A 20-year-old BTech student died after falling from a three-storey college building in Hyderabad on Friday, September 18, days after her marriage, police said.
The deceased, identified as Pallavi, was pursuing BTech at Kommuri Prathap Reddy Institute of Technology. She married Srikanth Reddy, a constable posted at Chaitanyapuri Police Station, on August 30.
According to a complaint filed by Pallavi’s mother with Ghatkesar police, her daughter was allegedly subjected to physical and mental harassment by her husband over additional dowry. The complaint alleged that the harassment caused her severe distress.
Pallavi was initially taken to Neelima Hospital in Jeedimetla for treatment and was later shifted to Srikara Hospital in Medipally. She subsequently succumbed to her injuries.
Ghatkesar police have registered a case based on the complaint and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death and the allegations of harassment.
