HYDRAA Clears Encroachments from 75-Acre RK Puram Cheruvu in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has cleared encroachments from RK Puram Cheruvu, also known as Mukkidikunta, in Medchal-Malkajgiri district.

The operation was carried out on Thursday, October 29, following complaints from local residents about illegal constructions and pollution within the lake premises.

23 Acres Reportedly Affected by Encroachments

RK Puram Cheruvu, spread across 75 acres, is located in Ramakrishnapuram village of Malkajgiri mandal.

According to the information provided, permanent structures had come up on approximately 11 acres of the lake, while fresh encroachments were reported across another 12 acres.

Local residents had submitted complaints through the Prajavani grievance platform, raising concerns about the operation of a slaughterhouse within the lake boundaries, waste dumping and illegal construction activities.

HYDRAA Erects Fencing to Protect Lake

After examining the site and the reported encroachments, HYDRAA carried out a clearance operation and removed the encroachments.

The agency subsequently erected fencing around the lake area to prevent further encroachment and protect the water body.

The action is aimed at safeguarding RK Puram Cheruvu from illegal occupation and activities that could affect its environment.
