A verbal dispute over an alleged remark against a girl escalated into a physical confrontation between students from two hostels at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH), prompting police to step in and arrest 10 students.
The clash broke out during Teej celebrations on campus, when a large number of students had gathered. The festive crowd meant the situation grew out of hand quickly. Videos circulating online showed students fighting near the hostel gates, with some of them carrying sticks.
KPHB police reached the spot, brought the situation under control, and took 10 students into custody in connection with the incident.
The episode has raised serious concerns about student safety on campus and the speed at which a verbal altercation can turn into a full physical confrontation.
