Kolkata Police file FIR against Mamata Banerjee over TMCP event court order breach

Kolkata Police on Saturday, August 29, registered a suo motu FIR against Trinamool Congress supremo and former West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, citing alleged violation of conditions imposed by the Calcutta High Court for holding a Trinamool Chhatra Parishad foundation day event.
The case was filed at Hastings Police Station against Banerjee as well as the organisers of the TMCP meeting, a police officer confirmed.
The event in question was held on Friday, August 28, at Cathedral Road in central Kolkata. Police examined the court-imposed conditions for holding the gathering before proceeding to register the FIR.
"The FIR has been registered for the alleged violation of the court's order. The role of all those involved in the violation will be examined during the course of the investigation," the officer said.
The Trinamool Chhatra Parishad is the student wing of the Trinamool Congress party. No arrests have been announced as of now, and the investigation is currently under way.
