Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has directed municipal authorities to take comprehensive measures to make Hyderabad cleaner and reduce traffic congestion across the city.
During a review meeting with municipal officials at his Jubilee Hills residence on Monday, November 2, the Chief Minister stressed the need for continuous monitoring of sanitation activities and instructed officials to ensure that garbage does not accumulate in public spaces.
Focus on Garbage Collection and City Cleanliness
Revanth Reddy asked officials to strengthen waste collection and monitoring systems to improve sanitation across Hyderabad.
He emphasised that municipal teams should regularly oversee garbage clearance and ensure that public areas remain clean.
Green Tanker Service to Be Expanded
The Chief Minister also called for greater public awareness about the use of Green Tankers, which supply treated wastewater from Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs).
The treated water can be used for construction activities, park maintenance, landscaping and gardening, reducing dependence on freshwater resources for non-drinking purposes.
The Water Board has initially launched the service with 28 treated-water tankers sourcing water from 19 STPs.
Revanth Reddy suggested expanding the service beyond the existing coverage to areas under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) and Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC).
Plans for Underpasses and Elevated Corridors
Reviewing Hyderabad's growing traffic problems, the Chief Minister directed officials to prepare measures to reduce congestion and improve traffic movement.
He called for effective traffic regulation and asked authorities to develop plans for underpasses and elevated corridors to create a signal-free road network at key locations.
The proposed infrastructure measures are aimed at reducing delays at busy junctions and improving connectivity across the city.
Officials Attend Review Meeting
The meeting was attended by MP Vem Narender Reddy, Chief Minister's Secretary Manik Raj, HMDA Commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmed and Municipal Commissioner G. Srujana, among other officials.
The directions form part of the state government's efforts to improve urban sanitation, promote treated wastewater reuse and address Hyderabad's increasing traffic challenges.
