Hyderabad: Falaknuma police arrested six persons and detained a juvenile on Thursday, September 3, in connection with the fatal attack on real estate businessman Mohammed Mehbub Ali, 53, whose remains were found near Almas Hotel in Vattepally on August 30.
Acting on a complaint by Ali's son, the Falaknuma police registered a case under Section 103(1) (murder) and Section 61(2) (criminal conspiracy) read with Section 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Section 27(2) (using prohibited arms and ammunition) of the Arms Act.
The accused were identified as Mirza Mohsin Baig, Mohammed Imran Ahemad, Mohammed Naseer, Shaik Akram, Mohammed Abrar Ali, Mohammed Sami, and a juvenile whose identity has not been disclosed given their age.
Investigation revealed that the prime accused, Baig, suspected that Mehbub had performed black magic on his mother, Tahera Begum, causing her prolonged illness. Baig also held Mehbub responsible for the passing of his maternal uncle, Mohammed Khaleel, which he believed was brought about through black magic.
Baig allegedly shared these suspicions with his cousin Mohammed Imran Ahemad, who reportedly suggested that Mehbub be eliminated and assured Baig that he would arrange bail for all the accused after the act. The seven then allegedly conspired together to carry out the attack.
On August 30, after learning that Mehbub was at Almas Hotel, the group allegedly assembled at Ayaan Darbar Hotel, procured six knives and daggers, and proceeded to the spot on two scooters. They allegedly intercepted Mehbub near Almas Hotel and attacked him, inflicting wounds to his head, chest, hands, and other parts of his body. He did not survive the assault.
