Two UoH Students Arrested After Clash Between ABVP, SFI

Hyderabad: Two students of the University of Hyderabad have been arrested and sent to judicial custody following a clash between members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and the Student Federation of India (SFI), police said.

According to Gachibowli police, the incident occurred around 1:40 am on October 2 and was linked to disputes following the recently concluded student union elections.

An SFI member lodged a complaint alleging that the accused attempted to strangle him with a belt during the altercation. He was reportedly rescued after friends and university security personnel intervened.

Police also alleged that a female student was attacked with an iron stand during the incident and suffered serious injuries.

Gachibowli Circle Inspector Saidulu Konni told Siasat.com that two students, identified as Mohit and Akash Bhati, were arrested in connection with an attempt-to-murder case under Section 109(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The ABVP also filed a counter-complaint, alleging that SFI members entered their hostel and assaulted students. Based on the complaint, police registered a separate case relating to house-trespass under Section 331(6) of the BNS.

Further investigation into the two complaints is underway.
