Viral Video Shows Massive Mosquito Swarms Over Uppal Trees, Not Smoke

<p>A video recorded by Hyderabad resident Monica Juyal during an evening in Uppal has gone viral on social media, drawing widespread attention after what initially appeared to be thick columns of smoke rising above a tree line turned out to be a massive swarm of mosquitoes.</p>
<p>Juyal, who lives in Uppal, shot the footage at twilight. The dense, wave-like formations hovering tightly over the trees created an effect strikingly similar to rising steam or smoke. Experts note that such towering formations are typically seasonal mating swarms, where male insects cluster around tall, distinct vertical markers like trees.</p>
<p>Residents in the area have pointed to Uppal Cheruvu and active local construction work as likely contributors to breeding in the locality, creating conditions that support such large insect aggregations.</p>
<p>The footage spread quickly online and reignited a broader conversation about public health and the state of mosquito control in Hyderabad. In response, local Residents' Welfare Associations and apartment owners have reiterated their demands for municipal authorities to intensify fogging operations, anti-larval treatment and insecticide spraying, particularly near open water bodies like Uppal Nalla Cheruvu and the surrounding residential colonies.</p>
