Hyderabad: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is leading a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) padayatra in Hyderabad on Monday, November 2, as part of the Telangana BJP's campaign against what it describes as the Congress's misleading narrative surrounding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
The foot march is scheduled to begin at the Babu Jagjivan Ram statue in Basheerbagh and proceed towards Mozamjahi Market in the city.
BJP Targets Congress Over SIR
The padayatra is part of the BJP's efforts to counter the Congress's criticism of the SIR exercise, which has become a major point of political confrontation between the ruling party at the Centre and opposition parties.
Shah's Hyderabad visit comes a day after the INDIA bloc organised a rally at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi on Sunday, November 1, targeting the BJP over allegations of electoral irregularities and vote theft.
Political Face-Off Over Electoral Rolls
The BJP has accused opposition parties of spreading misleading claims about the electoral revision process, while the INDIA bloc has raised concerns over alleged irregularities in voter lists.
Shah is expected to address the opposition's criticism during his Hyderabad programme.
The padayatra marks another round of political mobilisation in Telangana amid the continuing debate over electoral rolls and the SIR exercise.
