Asian Games 2026: Neeru Dhanda, Kynan Chenai Win Trap Mixed Team Gold

Nagoya: India's Neeru Dhanda and Kynan Chenai won the gold medal in the trap mixed team event at the 2026 Asian Games on Wednesday, setting a new Asian record in the process.

The Indian pair scored 34 points in the final after qualifying in fourth position. Qatar's Mohammed Al-Rumaihi and Ray Bassil won silver with a score of 32, while China's Qi Ying and Sun Yunong secured bronze after scoring 23.

India's score surpassed the previous Asian record of 30, which was held by Qatar and had been set in January this year.

The gold marked a significant achievement for 26-year-old Neeru Dhanda, who had won an individual trap gold with an Asian record on Tuesday. That victory made her the first Indian woman shooter to win an individual trap medal at the Asian Games.

The mixed team triumph was India's first gold medal in the trap mixed team event at the Asian Games. It also took India's gold-medal tally at the 2026 Games to nine.

India's overall medal tally stood at 56, comprising nine gold, 21 silver and 26 bronze medals. The Indian shooting contingent contributed 15 medals, including three gold, eight silver and four bronze.
