New Delhi, June 20: The Congress party has questioned the Centre's silence over recent remarks made by an Israeli minister concerning the understanding between the United States and Iran. The opposition alleged that the government's lack of response has raised concerns about India's diplomatic position in West Asia.
Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said India has traditionally maintained balanced relations across the region and should continue to protect its strategic and economic interests. He argued that developments in West Asia require careful diplomatic engagement and clear communication from the Government.
The Congress leader expressed concern that any perception of bias in India's foreign policy could affect its long-standing relationships with countries in the region. He urged the Centre to adopt a balanced approach that promotes peace, stability and national interests.
The opposition party also highlighted the importance of regional stability in West Asia, noting that tensions in the region can have wider implications for global security, energy supplies and international trade. Congress said India should continue to play a constructive role while safeguarding its diplomatic priorities.
The party further called on the Government to clarify its position on the issue and ensure that India's foreign policy remains guided by national interests and strategic considerations.
