Srinagar, June 20: A departmental investigation conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Health and Medical Education Department has brought to light alleged irregularities in cardiac treatment procedures carried out at Government Medical College (GMC), Anantnag. Acting on the findings, authorities have suspended a cardiologist and initiated further disciplinary proceedings.
According to officials, the inquiry examined multiple cases linked to treatments provided under the PM-JAY SEHAT health insurance scheme. During the review, investigators reportedly found discrepancies between claims submitted through official digital platforms and records maintained by the hospital.
The probe focused on a number of cardiac procedure cases and reviewed supporting medical documentation. Officials stated that the findings raised concerns over procedural compliance and the accuracy of records associated with certain treatments.
Authorities also examined procurement-related practices and billing procedures connected to the cases under investigation. The inquiry reportedly suggested that established guidelines may not have been followed in some instances, prompting further scrutiny by the department.
Following the preliminary findings, the concerned doctor has been asked to submit a detailed explanation. Officials said additional action will be considered after reviewing the response and completing the departmental process.
