Hyderabad: US President Donald Trump has expressed his appreciation after the Telangana government named a road near the US Consulate in Hyderabad as "Donald Trump Avenue."
The road was inaugurated during the Freedom 250 celebrations, marking the 250th anniversary of the United States' Independence. The event was attended by Telangana government representatives, US officials and invited guests.
Reacting to the gesture, Trump thanked the people of India and the Telangana government. He said he was honoured by the recognition and described it as another symbol of the strong friendship between India and the United States.
The newly named road is located in Hyderabad's Financial District, close to the US Consulate. Telangana officials said the initiative reflects the growing partnership between the state and the United States in areas such as technology, business, innovation and investment.
The government also stated that naming important roads after globally recognised personalities and organisations is part of its plan to celebrate contributions that have strengthened international cooperation.
Officials added that more roads in Hyderabad are expected to receive names honouring global institutions and distinguished personalities in the coming months.
