Garbage Piles Up on Bedarwadi Road in Hyderabad, Residents Seek GHMC Action

Hyderabad: Residents, shopkeepers and motorists are facing inconvenience due to the recurring accumulation of garbage along Bedarwadi Road in Shahinyathgunj. Despite morning clearance by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) sanitation workers, fresh waste reportedly builds up along the roadside during the day.

The garbage, which includes household waste and other discarded materials, has become a concern for people living and working in the area. Locals say the foul smell and unhygienic surroundings are affecting businesses and raising fears about possible health risks.

Shopkeepers Complain of Persistent Waste

Lakhan Singh, a local mechanic, said the scattered garbage was creating difficulties for shopkeepers and their customers.

He said sanitation workers clear the waste in the morning, but garbage begins accumulating again soon afterwards, leaving people to deal with unpleasant conditions for much of the day.

Local businessman Rupesh Agarwal said the situation becomes particularly difficult during the evening and night. According to him, stray dogs rummage through the waste and spread it further across the road, creating problems for pedestrians and motorists. Flies have also become a nuisance for nearby commercial establishments.

Residents Raise Health Concerns

Mohd Qamar, a local resident, expressed concern over the unhygienic conditions, particularly for children and elderly people. He said exposed garbage and the presence of flies were causing anxiety among families in the neighbourhood.

Residents fear that prolonged exposure to the waste could increase the risk of infections, although no specific illness has been medically linked to the garbage.

Locals Seek Regular Garbage Collection

Residents and shopkeepers have urged the GHMC to install large garbage collection bins at suitable points along Bedarwadi Road. They have also called for more frequent waste collection instead of relying on a single morning clearance.

Locals want the civic body to prevent roadside dumping and introduce measures to keep the stretch clean throughout the day.

They say timely waste removal and adequate collection facilities are necessary to improve sanitation and ease the difficulties faced by people in the locality.
