Hyderabad: Prohibition and Excise Department officials seized 28.163 kg of ganja in two separate operations and arrested three people allegedly transporting the contraband from Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad.
In the first case, officials conducted an operation near the RK Nagar auto stand area in Malkajgiri and seized 7.163 kg of ganja. A man identified as Bappa, a native of West Bengal, was arrested in connection with the seizure.
In the second operation, officials seized 21 kg of ganja from two women who allegedly travelled by train from Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad carrying the contraband. The suspects were identified as Hindu Rani and Rajammal Panchagam, both natives of Madurai in Tamil Nadu.
The total quantity seized in the two cases was estimated to be worth around Rs 10 lakh.
Cases have been registered against the accused, and further investigation is underway to determine the source of the contraband and other possible links in the alleged transportation network.
