Hyderabad: The Task Force (Golconda Zone), along with Asifnagar Police, busted an alleged illegal gutkha and tobacco manufacturing unit at Muradnagar and seized raw tobacco, packing material and machinery worth around Rs 50 lakh.
Police arrested three workers during the operation and rescued two children who were allegedly employed at the unit.
According to police, the premises contained large quantities of ready-mixed gutkha, zarda, raw tobacco, packing rolls and machinery used for manufacturing and packaging the products.
Police alleged that the unit was being operated by two individuals identified as Zubair and Muzzaffer alias Dada. Both are reportedly absconding.
The seized material and machinery were valued at approximately Rs 50 lakh, according to police.
The rescued children were handed over to the concerned authorities for further assistance and necessary procedures. Police have launched further investigation to establish the source of the raw materials and identify others allegedly involved in the operation.
