Jagdeep Dhankhar, Israeli Consul General Invited to RSS Vijayadashmi Event in Nagpur

Nagpur: Former Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar and Israel’s Consul General for the Midwest India region, Yaniv Revach, have been invited to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) Vijayadashmi programme scheduled for October 20 in Nagpur, the organisation announced.

According to an RSS statement issued on Wednesday, the event will take place at Reshimbagh in Nagpur as part of the organisation’s Vijayadashmi celebrations marking the conclusion of its centenary year.

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat will deliver the keynote address, while Dainik Jagran Editor-in-Chief Sanjay Gupta has been named the chief guest.

Dhankhar’s Invitation Draws Congress Reaction

Dhankhar resigned as Vice President of India and Chairman of the Rajya Sabha in July 2025, citing medical reasons.

The invitation has drawn criticism from the Congress, which questioned the government’s handling of matters concerning the former Vice President.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said Dhankhar had received an invitation from the RSS but had yet to be allotted a residence that the party says he is entitled to following his resignation.

Ramesh described the situation by saying that the political “ecosystem is at war with itself”, according to the report.

The RSS has announced the invited guests and programme details, while the Congress has raised questions about Dhankhar’s residential entitlement. The Vijayadashmi event is scheduled to take place in Nagpur on October 20.
