Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrashekhar Rao convened a key meeting of party legislators on Sunday, September 6, a day before the Monsoon Session of the Telangana Legislative Assembly was set to begin.
The meeting was held at KCR's farmhouse in Erravalli, Siddipet district, and was attended by former ministers KT Rama Rao and Harish Rao along with other prominent BRS leaders. Reports indicate that KCR has decided to skip the upcoming Assembly session.
During the meeting, KCR briefed BRS MLAs and MLCs on the charge sheet released by the party against the Congress government and its 1,000-day tenure. He advised legislators to raise issues concerning farmers, youth, students and women on the floor of the House.
KCR also asked the party to stall Assembly proceedings over the issue of lands classified under '22A', and stressed the need to question the government on unfulfilled promises and pending schemes. As the Gajwel MLA, he outlined the strategy to be adopted by BRS legislators during the session and guided them on issues that could be used to put the ruling party on the back foot.
The meeting comes against the backdrop of protests by the Congress party, which has been demanding that KCR attend the Assembly session in his capacity as leader of the opposition. On September 4, Congress held a protest in which KCR was compared to Kumbhakarana for his continued absence from the Assembly since the party came to power.
