Kerala Police Bust Illegal Tobacco Unit, Seize 15,000 Banned Packets

Kasaragod: Kerala Police have uncovered an illegal tobacco manufacturing unit in Kasaragod district, leading to the seizure of 15,000 packets of banned tobacco products.

The operation was carried out by the Melparamba Police following specific information about the illegal activity. During the raid, officers searched a rented building where banned tobacco products were allegedly being produced and packed for distribution.

Police recovered a large quantity of banned tobacco packets, along with raw materials, packaging supplies and equipment used in the manufacturing process. Two people were arrested during the operation for their alleged involvement in the illegal business.

Officials said the unit was operating in violation of state regulations banning the manufacture and sale of certain tobacco products. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to identify others connected to the supply and distribution network.

Police said strict action will continue against those involved in the illegal production, storage and sale of banned tobacco products across the state.
