Kolar Administration Takes Action Over Voter Roll Revision Delays
The Kolar district administration in Karnataka has taken action against eight government officials, including six tahsildars, for lapses in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The officials have been issued show-cause notices after a review found shortcomings in the progress of the exercise.
According to district authorities, the voter verification process was moving slowly in several areas because many booth-level staff had not completed their assigned work. Officials also found that supervision of the revision exercise was not satisfactory in some taluks.
The notices were issued to six tahsildars along with two other officials responsible for monitoring the revision process. They have been asked to explain the reasons for the delays and submit their responses within the prescribed time.
The Special Intensive Revision is being carried out by the Election Commission to verify and update electoral rolls before future elections. The exercise aims to ensure that voter records are accurate by adding eligible voters, correcting details, and removing incorrect entries where necessary.
District officials have directed all field staff to speed up the verification work and complete the remaining tasks without further delay. Authorities have also warned that additional disciplinary action may be taken if officials fail to improve the pace of the revision exercise.
