Meerut: Police have arrested a man and a woman following a confrontation in Meerut in which the man’s wife was allegedly carried on the bonnet of a moving car, officials said on Sunday.
The incident took place in the Lohianagar area on Saturday evening. According to police, the woman, identified as Sunita, allegedly spotted her husband Mayank with another woman, identified as Mahi, inside a car.
A confrontation followed when Mayank allegedly attempted to leave the spot. Police said Sunita tried to stop the vehicle and ended up on its bonnet. The car was allegedly driven for around 100 metres before people at the scene intervened and stopped it.
A video purportedly showing the incident has also surfaced online. Police are examining the footage as part of their investigation.
Sunita later approached the police and accused her husband of assault, dowry harassment and maintaining relationships with other women. She also alleged that he had attempted to run her over.
Police subsequently arrested Mayank and Mahi in connection with the complaint and seized the vehicle allegedly involved in the incident.
Officials said further investigation is underway to establish the sequence of events and determine the circumstances that led to the woman being on the moving car’s bonnet. The allegations are subject to investigation and legal proceedings.
