HMRL Chief Inspects Old City Metro Corridor, Pushes for Faster Land Clearance

Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) Additional Managing Director B. Ajith Reddy visited the Old City on Saturday to inspect road-widening works along the Metro Rail corridor, directing officials to pick up the pace on property acquisition, utility relocation, and inter-departmental coordination.
Accompanied by Metro Rail Chief Engineer S. Bhaskar Reddy, he reviewed the 7.5 km stretch from Darulshifa to Chandrayangutta. During the inspection, Reddy took stock of the property acquisition status and noted that 833 of the 888 affected properties along this route have already been acquired.
The remaining 55 properties are a particular challenge, as several among them are heritage structures and ancient buildings. Reddy held discussions with officials on how the Metro Rail route expansion can proceed in parallel with the resolution of these cases.
He also instructed that the relocation of utilities, including sewer lines, poles, and water pipelines, be completed without further delay so that these do not hold up construction progress.
Reddy urged all government departments involved in the corridor works to coordinate effectively and secure the Right of Way at the earliest.
