75-Year-Old Fisherman Fatally Attacked by Son in Thrissur, Accused in Custody

A 75-year-old fisherman lost his life in Thoyakkavu, Thrissur on Saturday after allegedly being attacked by his own son, police said.
The victim, identified as Kumaran, was a native of Thoyakkavu under the Pavaratty police station limits. According to police, Kumaran had returned home in the afternoon after a day of fishing when his son Prajeesh allegedly came at him with a sharp weapon.
Neighbours who heard the commotion rushed to the house and immediately shifted Kumaran to a nearby hospital. He succumbed to his injuries there.
Police reached the scene after being alerted and took Prajeesh into custody. Investigators suspect Prajeesh may be dependent on illegal substances and that he frequently quarrelled with his father. Authorities are questioning the accused at Pavaratty police station to establish the motive behind the attack.
A fatal crime case has been registered against Prajeesh in connection with the incident.
