Moscow: Russia has reported one of the largest Ukrainian drone attacks since the start of the conflict, claiming that its air defence systems intercepted hundreds of unmanned aerial vehicles launched overnight across several regions.
According to the Russian Defence Ministry, air defence units shot down hundreds of drones over multiple regions, including areas near the Black Sea, the Sea of Azov and Russian-controlled Crimea. Officials described the operation as one of the biggest drone assaults carried out by Ukraine during the ongoing war.
Russian authorities said the attacks caused limited damage to infrastructure and left at least one civilian injured in the Tula region. Emergency services responded to incidents including a fire at an industrial facility, while investigations into the damage are underway.
The large-scale drone operation came as Ukraine continues to increase long-range strikes aimed at military, logistics and energy-related targets inside Russian territory. Kyiv has frequently used drone attacks to disrupt Russian supply lines and strategic infrastructure.
In response, Russia launched fresh missile and drone attacks on several Ukrainian cities, resulting in civilian casualties and damage to residential buildings and critical infrastructure, according to Ukrainian officials.
The exchange of attacks highlights the continuing escalation in the Russia-Ukraine war, with both countries intensifying long-range aerial operations despite ongoing international efforts to push for a negotiated settlement.
