Pune: The investigation into the death of Pune businessman Ketan Agarwal has taken a dramatic turn, with police alleging that the incident at Lohagad Fort was a planned murder rather than an accidental fall.
According to investigators, Ketan's fiancée Siya Goyal and her alleged lover Chetan Chaudhary conspired to kill him after planning the crime in advance. Police claim the two met at a café a day before the incident to finalise the plan and selected Lohagad Fort as the location for the attack.
Investigators said Ketan was taken to the fort under the pretext of an outing. During the trek, he was allegedly pushed into a deep gorge. The incident was initially reported as an accidental fall while taking photographs, but investigators later questioned that version after examining CCTV footage, mobile phone records and witness statements.
Police also alleged that the accused had made previous attempts to lure Ketan to the fort before the fatal incident. Digital evidence and surveillance footage reportedly played a key role in uncovering the alleged conspiracy.
Both Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary have been arrested and booked in connection with the case. During questioning, each accused has reportedly blamed the other for planning the crime, while investigators continue to gather evidence to establish the sequence of events.
The case has attracted widespread attention across the country due to the shocking nature of the allegations and the fact that the victim and the accused were engaged to be married. The investigation remains ongoing.
