Tirupati: Three workers were killed and two others injured after a crane collapsed at a construction site on DBR Road near Sri Convention in Tirupati on Tuesday.
According to preliminary reports, the crane lost its balance while moving soil for a private hotel construction project and toppled into an excavation pit.
Three workers were reportedly trapped beneath the heavy machinery and died at the site. Two other workers sustained serious injuries in the accident and were shifted to hospitals in Tirupati for treatment.
Other workers at the construction site alerted police following the incident. Police and rescue personnel reached the spot and began efforts to recover the workers and clear the collapsed machinery.
Authorities have also initiated measures to remove the heavy crane from the excavation area. Officials are gathering information to determine the circumstances that led to the crane losing balance and collapsing.
Further details, including the identities of the deceased and injured workers, were awaited.
