Four people, including a three-year-old girl, lost their lives and five others were seriously injured after two cars collided near Godekere Gate in Chikkanayakanahalli taluk, Tumakuru district, on Friday night, August 28.
The four who lost their lives have been identified as Anil, 32, and Vivek, 31, both from Chikkanayakanahalli, and Davud Pasha along with his three-year-old daughter Anaam, from Turuvekere.
Police said the accident occurred when a Kia car travelling from Turuvekere collided head-on with a Volkswagen coming from the Chikkanayakanahalli side. The impact was severe, leaving both vehicles badly damaged.
Five people who sustained serious injuries were shifted to a hospital for treatment. Their current condition has not been confirmed by authorities.
The crash temporarily disrupted vehicular movement around Godekere Gate. Police reached the spot, conducted an inspection, and cleared the affected stretch.
A case has been registered at Chikkanayakanahalli police station and an investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances leading to the fatal collision
