Jajpur, Odisha: Two men have been arrested after a 32-year-old woman was allegedly subjected to group sexual assault at Chandikhole in Jajpur district, Odisha, police confirmed on Sunday.
The incident took place on Tuesday evening. One of the accused, who was known to the victim, called her on the phone and falsely told her that her husband was unwell. Believing this, the woman travelled by bus to the Chandikhole area around 7 pm. Once there, the accused took her to an abandoned bungalow, where he was later joined by a friend, according to a police officer.
The woman filed a complaint at Kalinga Nagar police station on Wednesday night. Acting on the complaint, a police team conducted raids in the Badachana and Jenapur areas of Jajpur district and arrested both accused on Saturday.
Kalinganagar Additional SP Suprasanna Mallick confirmed that the two accused admitted to the alleged crime during police interrogation. They were produced before a local court on Saturday and were subsequently remanded to judicial custody for 14 days.
