BRS working president KT Rama Rao fired back at the Congress party on Saturday, challenging demands for Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's resignation at a public rally in Karimnagar.
"They are demanding that KCR resign. Why should he resign? Should KCR, who brought Telangana, resign?" KTR asked the gathering, drawing a sharp contrast between the Congress position and KCR's role in the Telangana statehood movement.
KTR went on to invoke a moment from the same city's political history. "Back in 2006, right here in Karimnagar, Congress leaders demanded KCR's resignation. Do you remember what happened when KCR resigned on this soil of Karimnagar?" he said, reminding supporters of the sequence of events that followed KCR's resignation during the Telangana agitation.
he remarks were aimed at countering a renewed Congress push to put KCR on the back foot, with KTR framing the resignation demand as a repeat of a political miscalculation the Congress has already made once before on Karimnagar ground.
