All BRS MLAs suspended from Telangana Assembly for rest of monsoon session

All Bharat Rashtra Samithi members were suspended from the Telangana Assembly on Wednesday, September 9, for the rest of the monsoon session after they disrupted proceedings by entering the well of the House and raising slogans.

As soon as the House met, BRS members gathered in the well and raised slogans including 'we want justice'. BRS Working President K T Rama Rao had moved an adjournment motion seeking a debate on two issues: the alleged high-handedness of police against the party's women MLAs two days earlier, and alleged comments by some ruling Congress members wishing the passing of BRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao.

Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Legislative Affairs Minister D Sridhar Babu all appealed to the BRS members to return to their seats, but the members refused.

Vikramarka, responding to the controversy, said he and other Congress leaders wished Chandrasekhar Rao a healthy and long life.

Following the continued disruption, Sridhar Babu moved a motion for the suspension of all BRS members. Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar then announced the suspension, which will hold for the remainder of the ongoing monsoon session.
