BRS MLCs Tata Madhusudhan and Naveen Kumar Reddy Suspended from Telangana Council

<p>The Telangana Legislative Council on Tuesday, September 8, suspended Bharat Rashtra Samithi MLCs Tata Madhusudhan and N Naveen Kumar Reddy for the remainder of the current session, following alleged derogatory remarks made against Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar.</p>
<p>Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy announced the suspensions after Legislative Affairs Minister D Sridhar Babu moved a motion against the two members. Babu stated he was moving the motion keeping in view the mood of the House.</p>
<p>State Congress president and MLC B Mahesh Kumar Goud had demanded the immediate suspension of both members, saying the people of Telangana would not forgive if the two continued their presence in the House. Other members also condemned the alleged remarks against Speaker Kumar, who is a Dalit leader.</p>
<p>The alleged remarks by Madhusudhan had triggered a major political row, disrupting Assembly proceedings on both September 7 and 8. Earlier on Tuesday, the two BRS MLCs were arrested in connection with a case registered against them over the alleged remarks, though a local court subsequently rejected their remand. Madhusudhan had on Monday maintained that he did not make any derogatory comments against the Speaker.</p>
<p>A dramatic scene unfolded at the Legislative Council's Media Point when marshals stopped Madhusudhan as he was addressing journalists and forcibly removed him despite his resistance. The action was in line with rules that bar suspended MLCs from addressing the media on the premises of the House.</p>
