Wuhu, China: Chinese automobile manufacturer Chery is expanding beyond cars and SUVs with the introduction of two electric two-wheelers under its new Cinnox brand. The models, unveiled at a technology event in Wuhu, China, include the Grow C3 electric cruiser and an adventure-style electric scooter.
The company is positioning the new models as part of its entry into the two-wheeler market, with a focus on electric mobility, extended range and connected vehicle technology.
Chery Grow C3: Electric Cruiser with Range-Extender Technology
The Grow C3 is the more distinctive of the two models. Chery describes it as an AI-powered, range-extended intelligent electric cruiser.
The motorcycle uses Range-Extended Electric Vehicle (EREV) technology, in which an electric motor drives the wheels while a petrol engine generates electricity to help supply the battery. This arrangement is designed to reduce dependence on charging stations during longer journeys.
Unlike a conventional petrol motorcycle, the engine in this configuration primarily serves as an onboard generator rather than directly driving the wheels.
However, Chery has not yet disclosed several important specifications, including motor output, battery capacity, engine displacement, fuel tank size, charging time and the motorcycle’s total driving range. The company’s claim that the Grow C3 is the world’s first AI-powered range-extended intelligent cruiser has also not been independently verified.
Vehicle-to-Load Technology for Touring
The Grow C3 is being presented as a motorcycle suited to city travel as well as touring and camping.
One of its announced features is Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, which allows a vehicle’s battery to supply electricity to compatible external devices. If implemented in the production model as described, the feature could be useful for charging electronics and powering selected equipment during outdoor trips.
Chery has also highlighted artificial intelligence and connected-vehicle technology. Details about the planned AI functions, connectivity services, software features and over-the-air updates have not yet been confirmed.
Adventure Electric Scooter Claims a Range of Up to 200 km
Alongside the cruiser, Chery showcased an adventure-style electric scooter under the Cinnox brand.
According to the company, the scooter could offer a claimed range of 150 to 200 kilometres on a single charge. Actual range would depend on factors such as battery capacity, riding speed, road conditions, rider weight and weather.
Chery has not yet released a complete technical specification sheet for the scooter, and further details about its motor, battery, charging time, pricing and production plans remain unavailable.
Will Chery Launch These Two-Wheelers in India?
Chery’s potential entry into the Indian automobile market has attracted attention amid reports of possible cooperation with JSW. However, a formal announcement confirming the company’s Indian launch plans has not been made in the information available.
There is also no confirmed announcement regarding the launch of the Cinnox electric two-wheelers in India.
For now, the Grow C3 and adventure-style scooter represent Chery’s expansion into a new vehicle category. Their eventual market prospects will depend on the final specifications, pricing, production plans and availability announced by the company.
