Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall across parts of Telangana from Tuesday, October 27, with isolated extremely heavy downpours expected on Wednesday, October 28, as a weather system develops over the Bay of Bengal.
According to the forecast issued by IMD Hyderabad on Sunday, rainfall activity is expected to intensify across the state during the week. Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem and Khammam districts have been placed under a red alert for October 28, with isolated extremely heavy rainfall possible.
Red Alert for Three Telangana Districts
The IMD has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall, with isolated extremely heavy downpours, in Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem and Khammam districts on October 28.
An orange alert has also been issued for Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Mahabubabad and Suryapet districts, where heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places.
Other parts of Telangana may also experience rainfall as the weather system moves towards the Andhra Pradesh coast.
Rain Expected from October 27
The IMD has forecast isolated heavy rainfall in Telangana on October 27, followed by the possibility of extremely heavy rain in some areas on October 28.
Rainfall activity may continue on October 29, when isolated heavy showers are likely in parts of the state. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are also possible during this period.
The developing system over the Bay of Bengal is expected to influence weather conditions across Telangana, particularly in eastern districts.
Residents Advised to Monitor Weather Updates
The forecast has raised the possibility of disruption in areas that receive intense rainfall. Residents in low-lying locations should remain alert to potential waterlogging, while motorists should exercise caution on roads affected by heavy showers.
People in the districts under weather alerts are advised to follow official IMD bulletins and instructions issued by local authorities. Forecasts and district-level warnings may change as the weather system develops.
The coming days are expected to bring a significant change in Telangana’s weather after a prolonged dry spell, although the intensity and distribution of rainfall will depend on the system’s movement and development.
