Hyderabad Accounts for Over 91% of Telangana's GST Revenue in August 2026

Hyderabad has cemented its position as Telangana's dominant tax engine, contributing more than 91 percent of the state's Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue in August 2026.
The city collected Rs 3,956 crore in GST during the month, out of Telangana's total collection of Rs 4,341 crore, according to data from the state commercial taxes department.
Hyderabad's growth was particularly sharp in August. The city's increase alone accounted for 96.3 percent of the Rs 700-crore rise recorded in Telangana's overall GST collections during the month, underlining how heavily the state's revenue momentum depends on the capital.
The trend holds across the broader financial year as well. Between April and August 2026, Hyderabad collected Rs 18,892 crore in GST, a significant jump from Rs 15,535 crore during the same five-month period in 2025.
The per-taxpayer GST collection in Hyderabad stood at approximately Rs 98,900 in August, compared to Rs 74,845 for Telangana as a whole, reflecting the higher concentration of large businesses and high-value transactions in the city.
With the bulk of the state's taxpayers and GST revenue concentrated in Hyderabad, analysts and tax officials see efficient administration and strong taxpayer services in the city as central to sustaining Telangana's overall revenue performance.
