Meanwhile, Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) recorded a peak demand of 12,044 MW at 3:52 pm on Tuesday. This surpassed its previous financial-year record of 11,828 MW, recorded on September 11, 2026.
The rising demand comes as temperatures remain elevated and electricity use increases for cooling and other household and commercial requirements.
The Telangana government, TRANSCO and distribution companies are planning further expansion of the state's power infrastructure to meet projected future demand. The plans take into account expected electricity requirements from data centres, IT parks, industrial corridors, metro rail expansion, agriculture and rapid urbanisation.
