Hyderabad: HYDRAA DRF Clears Waterlogging, Fallen Trees After Heavy Rain

Hyderabad: HYDRAA Disaster Response Force (DRF) teams carried out emergency operations across Hyderabad after heavy rain caused waterlogging, blocked drains and uprooted trees on Tuesday evening.

According to HYDRAA, SFOs, DRF personnel and MET teams were placed on alert and deployed in flood-prone areas as rainfall intensified during peak office-closing hours.

Around one foot of water accumulated at the Secunderabad Clock Tower RUB underpass, a low-lying stretch where stormwater drainage capacity was reportedly inadequate. DRF personnel used 25 HP motors to pump out the accumulated water and clear the passage for traffic.

HYDRAA's control room received complaints of fallen trees at nine locations and water stagnation at four locations around 7 pm. Response teams were deployed to the affected areas and cleared the reported obstructions and stagnant water.

HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath inspected several locations and supervised the removal of water accumulated beneath the Secunderabad Clock Tower bridge. Additional Director Varla Papaiah and DFOs also participated in the field inspections.

HYDRAA officials said response teams remained on alert to address further complaints and waterlogging-related issues following the heavy rainfall.
