Hyderabad: Hyderabad Water Board vigilance officials seized 12 illegally installed motors during special inspections in the Kukatpally zone on Thursday, targeting unauthorised connections to drinking water supply pipelines.
The inspections were conducted in Vivekanandanagar Colony, under Division 22, and Gayatrinagar ward. The vigilance team, accompanied by the concerned manager, carried out the operation between 8 am and 10 am.
During the raids, officials identified motors directly connected to drinking water pipelines and removed them.
Illegal Motors Affect Water Supply
According to the Water Board, directly attaching motors to drinking water pipelines to draw water can affect the supply available to other consumers. Such connections can also reduce water pressure, potentially disrupting distribution to households in the surrounding areas.
The authorities have warned residents against installing unauthorised motors on public drinking water pipelines.
Inspections to Continue
The Water Board stated that vigilance inspections would continue to prevent illegal water extraction and protect the regular supply of drinking water.
Officials also warned that action would be taken against those found violating the regulations.
The seizure of 12 motors forms part of the department’s efforts to curb unauthorised water connections and ensure equitable distribution across the city.
