Hyderabad: Hyderabad and several districts across West and Central Telangana are likely to experience scattered thunderstorms from afternoon to night on Saturday, October 31, following heavy rainfall that disrupted traffic and caused waterlogging across the city on Friday.
Weather enthusiast T Balaji, popularly known as Telangana Weatherman, said Hyderabad could receive isolated to scattered rainfall, although the intensity is expected to be lower than the previous day's downpour.
According to Balaji, Friday's thunderstorms drained much of the convective energy in the atmosphere, which could limit the intensity of rainfall on Saturday.
Thunderstorms Expected in Several Telangana Districts
The forecast indicates the possibility of thunderstorms in the following districts:
Vikarabad
Sangareddy
Medak
Kamareddy
Rangareddy
Siddipet
Mahabubnagar
Wanaparthy
Narayanpet
Nagarkurnool
Yadadri
Other parts of Telangana are likely to receive isolated rainfall, Balaji said.
Heavy Rain Disrupts Traffic in Hyderabad
On Friday evening, heavy rainfall lashed several parts of Hyderabad, leaving roads waterlogged and slowing down traffic.
Waterlogging near Pillar No. 117 on the PVNR Expressway affected vehicle movement, prompting the deployment of Monsoon Emergency Teams.
Traffic also moved slowly near Tippu Khan Bridge and along the Bapu Ghat-Langar Houz stretch.
The Hyderabad Traffic Police advised commuters to avoid certain stretches in Banjara Hills due to flooding.
During the downpour, a Zepto delivery rider was also rescued from a nala.
Earlier, the Traffic Police had warned of moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by intense thunderstorms in Khairatabad, Secunderabad, Golconda, Charminar, Chandrayangutta and Rajendranagar.
Residents were advised to avoid unnecessary travel during the severe weather.
Telangana Likely to Receive Rain for Another Week
Balaji has forecast continued rainfall activity across Telangana over the next six to seven days.
East Telangana could receive moderate to heavy rainfall between November 2 and 4, while other parts of the state are likely to experience light to moderate showers.
Residents, particularly those in areas prone to waterlogging, are advised to remain alert and follow official weather and traffic advisories.
