Washington, D.C.: Indian-American lawmakers and community members have welcomed the US Supreme Court's decision supporting birthright citizenship, describing it as an important step in protecting constitutional rights and providing certainty to immigrant families.
The ruling confirms that children born in the United States are entitled to American citizenship under the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution. Community leaders said the judgment strengthens a long-standing constitutional guarantee and cannot be changed through a presidential executive order.
