Karimnagar Doctor Dr Gautam Pasula Ends His Life, PG Exam Distress Cited

<p>Hyderabad: Dr Gautam Pasula, a young medical officer posted at a primary healthcare centre in rural Karimnagar and a recognised public health commentator, tragically ended his life on Monday.</p>
<p>Family members and colleagues said Dr Gautam had been deeply distressed after failing to clear the postgraduate medical entrance examination in two consecutive attempts, a setback believed to have contributed to this tragic outcome.</p>
<p>Dr Gautam also served as vice-president of the Healthcare Reforms Doctors Association (HRDA), Karimnagar. He was a vocal advocate for banning Paraquat Dichloride, a toxic weed killer linked to fatal poisonings among farmers, and had campaigned consistently for stronger public health protections in rural communities.</p>
<p>Senior office bearers of HRDA Telangana expressed grief and offered condolences to his family on the untimely passing of Dr Gautam.</p>
<p>"Serving as a Medical Officer at a PHC on contract, he remained steadfastly committed to public healthcare and tirelessly advocated for healthcare reforms, doctors' rights, and the dignity and welfare of the medical fraternity," HRDA said in a statement.</p>
