New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has urged Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to apologise and step down over his alleged remarks referring to protesting students as "terrorists."
Rahul Gandhi criticised the minister, saying students should not be labelled in such a manner. He said the government should address the concerns raised by students instead of making statements that could hurt their sentiments.
The Congress leader also accused the Centre of failing to properly handle issues related to examinations and students. He said the focus should be on solving problems faced by young people rather than making controversial remarks.
Rahul Gandhi demanded that Dharmendra Pradhan accept responsibility for his comments and issue a public apology. He further said the minister should resign from his post.
The BJP has defended the government, while the exchange of criticism between the ruling party and the opposition has added to the ongoing political debate over education and student-related issues.
